Melissa Robison is a photographer, filmmaker, artist, and web producer.

She received her first camera at age 14 and became intrigued by how a photograph or series of photographic images can tell a story. This desire to communicate to audiences through visual mediums contributed to her getting a degree in Mass Communications with a concentration in Advertising at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU).

After graduating from VCU, she worked as an independent film and video producer and transitioned into producing interactive and web projects for non-profit, museum, and corporate clients. Professionally, Melissa is a partner at a web design studio in Washington D.C. and also works as a freelance designer and interactive producer.

Artistically, Melissa has been integrating her professional designs into experimental and mixed media pieces that montage photographs, illustrations, text, and other materials. These three recent pieces (pictured in this newsletter), apply a Polaroid transfer process to her digital photography and also to a web graphic she created for the NanteKoto.com Podcast. She will also be exhibiting some new, mixed media artwork during FIRSTFriday.
