Event:
FIRSTfriday of Falls Church will accept submissions each year from students in K-12. Students must attend school (public or private) in Falls Church or reside in the City. The deadline for entries is 6 p.m. the 2nd Tuesday in November of each year. Judges will select 13 entries to feature in an online calendar.
This Year's Calendar:
Robin Clark, a senior at George Mason High School, helped create the calendar as part of his internship with FIRSTfriday of Falls Church. The Student Art Contest Calendar is available on the FIRSTfriday web site (www.firstfridayoffallschurch.com). The virtual Art Contest Calendar was unveiled at the artists’ reception on January 1, 2010 at the FIRSTfriday event at Art and Frame of Falls Church, 111 Park Avenue. All entries are on display throughout the month of January at Art and Frame of Falls Church.
Theme:
The theme for the 9th Annual City of Falls Church Student Art Contest was “Change in the City of Falls Church.” Contestants are asked to submit artwork that illustrates change they have observed in themselves, in others, or in their community.
The theme for the 10th Annual City of Falls Church Student Art Contest will soon be determined.
Prizes:
Winners will be awarded prizes that include art-related merchandise and a gift certificate. All contestants will be awarded certificates.
